About this Site
The AZZOLES.com site is created, designed, and maintained by your Webmazter, Dave Knapp (the Gatekeeper and unofficial Photojournalist of AZZOLE Country). I'd like to know what you think about it - I don't promise to do anything with any suggestions you send me, but I will read them all. As always, this site is a work-in-progress and will be continually evolving while I juggle work and life commitments. If you have anything you'd like me to include here, send it along to me and I'll get it online. Be sure to check back frequently to see the latest changes and updates.
If you have any problems with this site, I want to know about it! Let me know what happened, what you were doing at the time, what browser and operating system you were using, and what you tried to do to fix it; I'll try to find out what's going on and get it fixed ASAP.
AZZOLE Country Online was created using Macromedia Dreamweaver (v. 3.01 and 4.0), a high-end WYSIWYG Web design program with advanced HTML source code editing capabilities. Most of the work was done in the GUI, with some sections of the code hand-edited as necessary to get the rollovers and text formatting to work properly.
The graphics (including all of the button, navigation bar, and rollover code) were designed and created in Macromedia Fireworks 3.0, and were exported into Dreamweaver to create a template page. This template was then used to build all of the pages that make up the site you've been browsing through. The interface is (very) loosely based on the design of Apple Computer's MacOS X ("Ten"), code-named "Aqua."
Previous versions of this Web site were created using Symantec Visual Page 2.0 (AzzoNet v2.0, circa 1998-1999); Netscape Composer, a component of Netscape Communicator 4.x (a suite which includes Netscape's Web browser, Navigator) was used to create the first edition of the AZZOLES Web site in 1997-1998.
This edition of the site was previewed and tested without problems in: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, Netscape Navigator 4.5-4.7x, Netscape 6, Mozilla 0.9, and Opera 4.x/5.x for Windows; Internet Explorer 4.01 for the MacOS (tested under MacOS 7.5.5); Netscape Navigator 4.7x, Konqueror, and Mozilla 0.7/0.8/0.9 for Linux (tested under Red Hat Linux 7.0 and 7.1); and Opera 5 and Mozilla 0.8 for BeOS 5.
Netscape Navigator 3.01 and AOL 3.0 on MacOS 7.5.5 have significant display issues with this site, as do all other version 3.x browsers I've tried on every other OS/platform; you will want to upgrade your software and try this site again.
Testing on BeOS 5 has been completed, with the following results: this site will not display properly in NetPositive, the browser that ships with BeOS; I recommend BeOS users download and use either Opera 5 or Mozilla 0.8/0.9 (a.k.a. BeZilla).
Note that each browser and OS displays these pages slightly differently; this is expected. Some functionality built into this site's design will probably not work in older browsers (version 3.x and earlier); I recommend obtaining the most recent release of whatever browser you prefer for your operating system in order to get the most out of your experience here.Go to the Links page to learn about or download most of the products mentioned here.
